My Bio
Born in Rancagua (1968), I was raised in a

hard-working, middle class family. Mom is a homemaker and dad is a now retired mechanic and supervisor at El Teniente, the biggest underground copper mine in the world. My elder brother, Nano and my sister Patty (RIP) have been my great friends over time. The three of us are first generation with a university degree. We owe it all to our parents. They worked hard knowing that education was the most important legacy they could give us. And they were so right.
I attended a Catholic school K-12, funny thing, since I am not a practicing Catholic any longer. I’m a thankful for the teachers I had and the great memories of high-school.
In 1993 I graduated as a Teacher of English as a foreign language from P. Universidad Católica de Chile. In 1997 I pursued a diploma in Design and Production of Multimedia and later in 2003 a masters degree from Teachers College, Columbia University thanks to a Fulbright scholarship I obtained in 2001.
I have worked in a number of different settings and held various positions: As an entrepreneur I co-founded Nova Language Consultants (1993) with Maite Exposito (today’s Nova Language CEO and sole owner) . I worked at PUC and then Universidad de los Andes and Universidad de Chile, teaching English and implementing curriculum for the integration of EFL and technology. Upon my return from Columbia University I worked as a consultant and teacher trainer for two years with Chile’s Ministry of Education (2004-2005). In 2006 I returned to Nova Language and had the opportunity to revamp the business with the support of Maite Exposito.
Today I work for Nova Language as an IELTS and TOEFL instructor and teacher trainer. Also I develop technology products for inbound use and for students’ course support. I’m also faculty at Universidad Alberto Hurtado (2007 -to present day). And over the last few months I consulted for a group of professionals in a project soon to be launched.
I live in Santiago de Chile and enjoy movies, music, navigating the Internet and eating in and out. I wish I had some more free time to get my hands on the books that I’ve bought recently. I expect to move out of town and live by the beach in my later years with the company of my family.
